Abba’s Child: The Cry of the Heart for Intimate Belonging by Brennan Manning (Written from a Christian perspective)
Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brene’ Brown, Ph.D. LMSW
(All books by Brown are good, but some may sound repetitive in content)
Released from Shame: Moving Beyond the Pain of the Past by Sandra D. Wilson, Ph.D. (Written from a Christian perspective)
Shame Interrupted: How God Lifts the Pain of Worthlessness & Rejection by Edward T. Welch (Written from a Christian perspective)
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain (This book refers to a lot of research and may feel “heavy” to some. Still, I highly recommend this book as it can be very empowering for an introvert to read. If you get bogged down in the middle of the book move to the “Part Four” section of the book.)
Reinventing Your Life: The Breakthrough Program to End Negative Behavior and Feel Great Again by Jeffrey E. Young, Ph.D., and Janet S. Klosko, Ph. D.
The Soul of Shame: Retelling the Stories We Believe About Ourselves by Curt Thompson, M.D. (Written from a Christian perspective)
